Recontact matter.

We meet Geneviève on May 2nd, 2016 in a small appartment In Paris. 

Jean-Marc explains that this meeting has for object "to resume contact" after Bertrand's visit to Lumbilla.

During the discussion, Geneviève draws up to us an exhaustive current situation) on the existing on the projects for which, Kamsaagre could be partner.

The Existing ressources

As we had been able to see during Bertrand's visit, the number of boarders who in period became established in:

The situation is very different today. The orphanage host 48 boarders among whom 12 infants. For the main part, this situation results from the family policy of the burkinaba'sgovernment who's will of which is to limit the time of preservation of the boarders within the orphanage. Besides, the ministry favors the adoption of the children within local family, to avoid hiatuses. The structure which hosted previously young people until 18 years cannot do any more, does not have to make it any more. Geneviève explains that this decrease is not without pulling consequences in term of functioning: " the situation is more difficult the olders participated. " An extract of the interview of 2010 of the former persons in charge reports the scale of the changes:

Berthe and Pascaline: we have at present in boarding school 101 children, 45 girls and 56 boys live in the center - to see here staff - but we have in nursery school 83 children distributed on 3 classes - small, average and big section - and 150 children in primary school distributed on 3 classes of the CP in the 2nd year of primary school. 190 children frequent daily our classrooms.

Some projects have been stopped in accordance with this situation.

It is the case for particular international welcome which allowed foreign nationals from differents  countries - Mexico, Holland, France etc. - to come to help the staff of the orphanage.. The structure stopped this activity since 2010.

Existing infrastructures.

Operational structures ...

Between 2008 to 2016, the orphanage has invested in the objective of " the self-sufficiency horizon 2020 ". A generator, a solar dryer came to complete the existing food-producing infrastructures. The ponds of spiruline - The spiruline is a micro-seaweed used as food complement because of its wealth in minerals and in vitamins - were enlarged, the solar dryer being dedicated to this activity. 200 moringas  were crashed. The leaves of moringa contain twice more proteins than the yoghurt, 3 times more potassium than the banana, 4 times more calcium than the milk, 7 times more vitamin C than oranges and 4 times more vitamin A than carrots and 8 essential amino acids.

Existing material are always avalaible : pizzeria-bakery, sales of spiruline.

...But remains fragiles.

Besides, the structure manages a food-producing set organized around a beef herd - 16 heads of cattle among which of the "Montbéliard" and a local race " Azawat " for the production of milk. However a part of the livestock was decimated by a disease. The breeding of 200 hens laying hen was abandoned for lack of qualified personnel to take care of it.

Besides, an enclosing wall collapsed which required an expensive repair.

Staff expenses

Concerning this post, Geneviève announces us a particularly watched post, that of the nursemaids. They are at present 11 among which several in professional formation - over a period of 6 months-. This post weighs heavy in orphanage budget : 21.000.000 CFA francs is about 31.920 €.

Actual needs

With the economic crisis of 2008, the donations and the subsidies made rare. If the number and the conditions of hosted children considerably decreased, needs remain  in particular concerning the infants. The latter represent 25 % of the global staff of the structure (12 on 48).

Infrastructures needs

These projects are in stand-by  :

• A tiled court in continuation of the nursery ;
• construction of a shed - for which Kamsaagré has already transfered funds ;
• enlargement  and  equipement of the nursery.

In spite of the decrease of staff, economic crisis, an unstable political situation and disengagement of the state of Burkina in the economic support, it seems clear that it is necessary to support the action of the orphanage for the well-being of the children. That is why we come back to you with the will to make these projects succeed which contribute to the objective of our association.

The choice of the campaign concerned first and foremost to the enlargement of the nursery and the tiled court.

Then let us give, give so that " the hope of the children " stays the heart of our association.
